| Abstract: | The data published in this volume were taken from the 1994 Annual Reports submitted by public libraries in Texas. This volume contains only local library statistics, county statistics, and summary data for the state and for the 10 library systems. Directory information and summary statistics formerly published in the statistics book are contained in separate publications. Section 1 provides summary statistics and includes statewide public library statistics, summary characteristics of Texas library systems, and public library statistics by system. Section 2, Statistics by Library, includes data on expenditures, income by source, library collection, local library services, staffing, and facilities for the 500+ libraries in Texas. Section 3, Statistics by County, provides the following data for each of the 250+ counties in Texas: 1992 Census population estimates, population served in fiscal year 1996, maximum property tax for library, library income from county and all other sources, cities with libraries, and Texas Library System membership status. An appendix provides the 1994 Annual Report Form and Instructions. (SWC) |
