| Abstract: | Three presentations are provided from Symposium 18, Instructional Technology, of the Academy of Human Resource Development (HRD) 2000 Conference Proceedings. "Strategies for Facilitating Interaction When Using Technology-Mediated Training Methods [TMTM]" (Jeffrey S. Lewis, Gary D. Geroy, Orlando Griego) focuses on differences between face-to-face and technology-mediated delivery and provides strategies for facilitating interaction when using TMTM. "The Determination of Factors Affecting User Acceptance of a Computer-Based Training Support Tool in the Workplace" (G. Dale Wagner, Daniele D. Flannery) reports a study that found determinants chosen to approximate user acceptance differed slightly between civilian and military respondents; individual and organizational characteristics were important in influencing perceived usefulness; and behavioral intention was the primary determinant for user acceptance. "Distance Education at the University of the West Indies [UWI]--Positioning the Institution as a Catalyst for HRD in the Caribbean Region: A Case Study" (Carmeta Tate-Blake) reports study data that UWI has made progress in production of course materials, number of courses offered, quantity and quality of materials, student enrollment, and student support services, but quality issues still revolved around the timely production and shipping of materials.
