Abstract: Assembly Bill (AB) 1402 authorized California's school districts to enter into design-build contracts for projects with design and construction costs exceeding $10 million. These guidelines are intended to accomplish the following purposes: (1) inform school districts of the design-build process under AB 1402; (2) help school districts to determine whether the design-build process is right for their project; and (3) help school districts comply with the statutory requirements of AB 1402 while avoiding potential problems that may occur during the project. The guidelines' sections address the request for proposal and prequalifcation of design-build entities, the selection of design-build entities, and implementation of the design-build contract. (EV)
