| Abstract: | This study was designed to assess the concurrent validity of the Brief Mini Markers Inventory. The 40-item Mini Markers scale and a 15-item situational response questionnaire were administered to a sample of college students. It was hypothesized that scores on the Mini Marker factors would correlate highly with responses to situations tapping the relevant factors of personality. Results reveal that although the five personality factors are conceptualized as being largely discrete, independent dimensions, in this sample significant overlap among these dimensions was noted. This may reflect an actual lack of orthogonality, or may be attributable to response biases among the respondents in this study. The concurrent validity of the Mini Markers personality questionnaire was affirmed for Conscientiousness, Extraversion, and Agreeableness. The concurrent validities for the Intelligence and Neuroticism factors were not established so convincingly by this data. (Contains 26 references.) (GCP) |
