| Abstract: | The Nebraska Student-Centered Assessment System (NSCAS) is a statewide assessment system that embodies Nebraska's holistic view of students and helps them prepare for success in postsecondary education, career, and civic life. It uses multiple measures throughout the year to provide educators and decision-makers at all levels with the insights they need to support student learning. The NSCAS, developed specifically for Nebraska and aligned to the state content area standards, is the assessment system's criterion-referenced measure designed for the Nebraska student population in grades 3-8. This technical report documents the processes and procedures implemented to support the 2023-2024 NSCAS in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science assessments by NWEA® under the supervision of the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE). The technical report shows how the processes, methods applied, and results contribute to the argument for validity and reliability and to the "Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing." For 2023-2024, the through-year model was used in English language arts and mathematics for grades 3-8, which were administered for fall, winter, and spring; spring assessments include science for grades 5 and 8. |
