| Abstract: | In the SEND Code of Practice, the area of Communication and Interaction includes children and young people with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN). These children and young people may have difficulty with one, some or all of the different aspects of speech, language or social communication that may vary across development. This review focuses on children and young people who have needs related to speech, language or communication. Although children and young people with autism may also experience various difficulties with communication, approaches for these children will be addressed in a separate review on autism, and therefore, will not be examined in this review. |
