| Abstract: | This action research examined the effectiveness of Project YAKAP (Youth Assistance and Kinship Advocacy Program in supporting junior high school student violators with broken family backgrounds at Bolbok Integrated National High School. The study was grounded in the observation that family breakdowns significantly impacted students' behavior, emotional well-being, and academic performance. The intervention utilized a four-month program consisting of two modules namely, Self and Others, and Family, which are both delivered through a seminar discussion, process questions, focus group sharing, and reflective exercises. Purposive sampling method was used to identify the participants of the study, and data were gathered through written surveys, semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and observation checklists. Pre-implementation assessments established baseline perceptions about self and family, while post-assessment surveys and interviews measured changes in social connectedness, behavior, and mindset. Results indicated that the YAKAP program provided students with opportunities and platforms to develop healthier coping strategies, express their thoughts and emotions, and process what they are going through. Findings also focused the project's role in reducing discipline-related cases by addressing the possible causes linked to violators family backgrounds. Ultimately, the YAKAP program was found to be an effective intervention in enhancing students' ability to handle their experiences positively, which having self-awareness and positive emotional well-being. |
