Abstract: An effective strategic plan is an iterative, evolving document that adapts with an unpredictable, changing education landscape--a landscape district leaders know all too well as they grapple with a number of complex challenges, including the long-lasting ripple effects of pandemic-related learning loss, shifting financial constraints, and growing student needs. With more data at their fingertips than ever before and better understanding of resource use and implications, leaders can move beyond surface-level considerations to identify challenges, understand their root causes, and invest in tangible, research-backed strategies that can affect real change for students. This guide offers a comprehensive look at an improved, iterative approach to formulating a strategic plan.
