Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping education, offering new opportunities to personalize learning, streamline administrative tasks, and prepare learners for a workforce increasingly influenced by AI-driven technologies. Yet, without careful planning, governance, and investment, these tools risk widening equity gaps, undermining trust, and overwhelming educators. This brief provides five actionable recommendations for state, district, and local leaders to guide the responsible integration of AI-enabled educational technologies (edtech) across PK-16 systems. By focusing on collaborative adoption, transparent governance, professional learning, classroom integration, and accountability systems, leaders can ensure AI-enabled edtech strengthens teaching and learning, safeguards learners, and supports equitable access to future-ready opportunities.
