| Abstract: | The Scottish Attainment Challenge (SAC) was launched in 2015 with the ambition of closing the poverty related attainment gap between children and young people from the least and most deprived communities. It has evolved significantly over time. What began with targeted support to selected authorities and schools has expanded into a national model of targeted support that reaches across the whole country, with Pupil Equity Funding (PEF) issued to the vast majority of schools, and Strategic Equity Funding (SEF) and Care Experienced Children and Young People (CECYP) funding going to all 32 local authorities. This report focuses specifically on the SAC funding allocated to local authorities--SEF and CECYP--which together support councils to tackle the impacts of poverty on children and young people's attainment. |
