| Abstract: | Science policy requires concerted, comprehensive attention and work from American citizens and policymakers. The National Association of Scholars (NAS) outlines here a program for strategic re-direction of science policy. They have focused in "The Prometheus Program" on aspects of science policy that have gone wrong and need reform. The "Prometheus Program" provides a portfolio of "issues" (such as Artificial Intelligence or Nuclear Energy) and "structures" (such as the Irreproducibility Crisis or University Finances) that require national attention. NAS makes these recommendations to provide focus and priorities to the extraordinarily broad range of possible topics in science policy. This document synthesizes their proposed case-by-case remedies into a more comprehensive plan for science policy reform. |
