| Abstract: | Dysgraphia is a learning disability that impairs children's written expression, mainly handwriting but also coherence at the same time. This research work was conducted to know the effectiveness of Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT)-based intervention, in assisting children with dysgraphia to enhance their writing skills. The quasi-experimental research was carried out with 80 participants (dividend in 2 groups, control and treatment, with 40 children in each) aged between 8 and 10 who were from public and private schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The control group was given standard instructions as per the Ministry of Education (MoE) recommendation while the treatment group was given ChatGPT based interventions (consisting of 16 sessions over 8 weeks, with 2 sessions per week, each lasting 30 min) in addition to standard teaching. Normative tests of writing skills, modified for dysgraphia, were employed to evaluate the usefulness of ChatGPT as a teaching tool. A repeated-measures Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) revealed that the intervention had a significant positive influence on the writing scores of treatment group. The conclusion of this study was that AI tools like ChatGPT can significantly enhance writing abilities in children with dysgraphia, providing tailored educational support and promoting a more inclusive and effective learning environment. These findings support the potential benefits of integration of AI technologies in educational strategies for students with dysgraphia, highlighting the potential for customized and adaptive learning aids to improve individual learning processes and overall teaching methods. |
