| Abstract: | The growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) presents an opportunity to address how generative AI can enhance, rather than replace, student learning in college classrooms. In this study, we leveraged AI to support students' educational experience by identifying strategies that personalize learning and improve student engagement in the classroom. Students participating in the study were from the 2000-level business statistics and economics courses taught in both asynchronous online and hybrid formats by the authors in fall 2024 and spring 2025. By using AI tools such as ChatGPT as an interactive tutor and study aid, we aimed to make learning more engaging, personalized, and effective. To achieve this, we tracked and analyzed students' attitudes and use of AI at three key points during the semester. These surveys provide insights into how students perceived AI as a learning tool, their comfort levels with integrating AI into their study routines, and how their use of AI evolved over time. In addition to the surveys, data from student interactions with AI tools revealed engagement levels and the effectiveness of AI in clarifying course concepts. This research aimed to bridge the gap between innovative technology and effective pedagogy. The findings inform best practices for AI use in higher education. By providing a detailed account of the AI integration process and its impact on student learning, this article will be a valuable resource and a guide for educators looking to adopt AI in their own classrooms. We demonstrate how AI can support and improve traditional teaching methods while helping students develop critical AI literacy skills that are increasingly essential in the modern workforce. |
