Abstract: This study explores the coupling effect of critical thinking ability and interdisciplinary learning in university English teaching and their mechanisms of action. Through theoretical analysis and empirical research, this paper reveals the interactive relationship between critical thinking ability and interdisciplinary learning. These two elements complement each other in English teaching and jointly promote students' language learning, critical thinking, and creativity. The study shows that enhancing critical thinking enables students to better integrate knowledge from various disciplines and improve their abilities to analyze, reason, and evaluate during interdisciplinary learning. In addition, interdisciplinary learning provides students with rich background knowledge, which stimulates multidimensional and creative thinking. By coupling the two, university English teaching not only improves students' language proficiency but also strengthens their ability to analyze and solve complex problems in a comprehensive manner. Based on this, the paper proposes several teaching strategies aimed at further enhancing students' Critical Thinking Ability and promoting the depth and breadth of their English learning through the design of interdisciplinary learning activities.
