| Abstract: | The increasing prevalence of AI technology and its use in education and the workforce will significantly change the workforce in the future. How colleges and universities adapt and engage with AI to improve students' development of AI skills and knowledge will influence how prepared students are to enter the workforce and leverage AI. The types of jobs may change, though history has shown that while some types of positions may disappear, new jobs will be developed that do not currently exist. This article reviews recent literature on AI's impact on employment and the future of the workforce. Implications for higher education leaders are provided to embrace students' use of AI and incorporate it into the curriculum and consider how potential future developments in AI might impact higher education and future professionals. ChatGPT also provided input on what positions and job categories may be created that require AI knowledge and skills. |
