Abstract (English):	The application in Mexico of mediation as an alternative means of dispute resolution, provides utility and various benefits. It is important to know the situation of this mechanism in our country nowadays, which has even been adopted in various fields and regulated in their different laws. Because while the alternative means of dispute resolution are not new in Mexico, particularly in health, mediation is a figure unfrequently used; hence the importance of this series of articles on mediation and health law. Abstract (Spanish):	La aplicación en México de la mediación como un medio alterno de solución de controversias ofrece gran utilidad y diversos beneficios. Es relevante conocer cuál es la situación que guarda dicho mecanismo en el entorno de nuestro país a la fecha, el cual ha sido incluso adoptado en diversos ámbitos y regulado dentro de sus diferentes cuerpos normativos. Porque si bien, los medios alternativos no son recientes en México, la mediación particularmente sí lo es, especialmente en materia sanitaria donde es una figura que no se utiliza; ahí la importancia de esta serie de artículos sobre mediación y derecho sanitario.
