Abstract (English):	Although qualitative research is not new in socio-sanitary sciences, the interest that this kind of research has awakened among health professionals is rather recent; specifically, it started in the 50's-60's of the 20th century. Both the methods of reasoning and the terminology used clearly differ from those used in quantitative research, and offer as well other philosophical orientations. In this article, some basic notions for the reading and comprehension of qualitative studies, as well as for the clinical application of their results, are presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish):	Aunque la investigación cualitativa no es algo novedoso en las ciencias socio sanitarias, el interés que ha despertado este tipo de investigación entre los profesionales de la salud es relativamente reciente, concretamente comenzó en los años 50 y 60 del siglo XX. Tanto los métodos de razonamiento como la terminología utilizada, se distinguen claramente de los de la investigación cuantitativa, ofreciendo además otras orientaciones filosóficas.
