Abstract (English): Chronic diseases can forge many changes in the patient’s lifestyle, potentially stressful, such as giving up activities they used to enjoy or adapt to new physical limitations and special needs, which predisposes a person to experience anxiety, depression or other psychological condition. Such is the case of "Lola", diagnosed in 2011 with Guillain-Barré syndrome. In this article, a description of the disease is performed and the case is analyzed under the vision of the nurse, in which a set of interventions are prioritized.Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS acronym) is an acute inflammatory polyneuropathy that can be classified as the neural commitment. In most cases, patients present with respiratory or gastrointestinal infections before submitting such weakness, paralysis and areflexia with ascending progression, among other signs and related to the physiopathology of each of its five presentations. It is important to recognize that health care of the GBS requires an interdisciplinary team, with professionals able to provide support in various aspects, physiological and mental, altered, such as nutrition, respiration, body function. Abstract (Spanish): Las enfermedades crónicas pueden producir múltiples cambios en el estilo de vida del paciente, potencialmente estresantes, como por ejemplo, renunciar a actividades que solía disfrutar o adaptarse a nuevas limitaciones físicas y necesidades especiales, lo que predispone a la persona a experimentar ansiedad, depresión u otro tipo de afección psicológica. Tal es el caso de "Lola", diagnosticada en 2011 con síndrome de Guillain-Barré. En este artículo se realiza una descripción de la patología y se analiza el caso bajo la visión del profesional de enfermería, en la que se realiza un plan de cuidados priorizando un conjunto de intervenciones. El síndrome de Guillain-Barré (GBS, siglas en inglés) es una polineuropatía inflamatoria aguda que puede clasificarse según el compromiso neuronal. En la mayoría de los casos, los pacientes cursan con infecciones de tipo respiratorio o gastrointestinal antes de presentar debilidad, arreflexia y parálisis con progresión ascendente, entre otros signos y síntomas relacionados con la fisiopatología de cada una de sus cinco presentaciones. Es importante reconocer que el GBS exige la atención sanitaria de un equipo interdisciplinario, con profesionales capaces de brindar apoyo en los diversos aspectos, fisiológicos y mentales, alterados, tales como: la nutrición, la respiración, la función corporal.
