Introduction: In our country, interauricular communication, persistent truncus arteriosus and interauricular communication are the most common congenital heart defects. Their diagnosis is made with an echocardiogram and angiotomography confirms diagnosis and assess extracardiac repercussions. Objective: To correlate echocardiographic and angiot-omographic diagnosis with final surgical diagnosis in children and teens with the most frequent congenital heart diseases. Material and methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 84 patients with diagnosis of congenital heart diseases in the Regional General Hospital No.l of Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social in Tijuana, where echocardiographic and angiotomographic diagnoses were correlated with final surgical diagnosis. Results: A total of 42 women and 42 men, were registered. Mean age was 20 months. Echocardiographic diagnosis showed a 98.8% efficacy rate when compared to surgical diagnosis with a 0.928 Cohen's Kappa coefficient, while angiotomographic diagnosis had a 91.7% efficacy rate with a 0.875 Cohen's Kappa coefficient. Conclusions: Accordance of both diagnoses with surgical findings was high, proving that echocardiography was better than angiotomography. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

Introductión: Las cardiopatías congénitas más frecuentes en nuestro país son la comunicación interauricular, la persistencia del conducto arterioso y la comunicacion interventricular. Su diagnóstico se realiza con el ecocardiograma, y la angiotomograf&3237;a permite confirmar el diagnostico y las repercusiones extracardfacas. Objetivo: Correlacio-nar los diagnósticos ecocardiografícos y angiotomograf&3237;cos con los diagnósticos quir&250;rgi-cos finales en niños y adolescentes con diagnóstico de las cardiopat&237;as congenitas m&225;s frecuentes. Materiales y m&3233;todos: Analisis retrospectivo dc 84 pacientcs con diagnóstico de cardiopat&3237;a congénita en el Hospital General Regional No. 1 del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social en Tijuana, donde se correlacionaron los diagn&3243;sticos ecocardiográficos y angiotomogr&225;ficos con los diagn&243;sticos quir&250;rgicos finales. Resultados: Fueron 42 pacien-tes de sexo femenino y 42 de sexo masculino, con una edad promedio de 20 meses, el diagnóstico ecocardiografico mostró una eficacia del 98.8% al comparar con los diagn&243;s-ticos quirúrgicos, con coeficiente Kappa de Cohen de 0.982, mientras que el diagn&243;stico angiotomogr&3225;fico mostr&3243; una eficacia del 91.7%, con coeficiente de Kappa de Cohen de 0.875. Conclusiones: La concordancia de ambos diagn&243;sticos con el tipo de hallazgo por cirugia fue alta, y fue mejor la prueba ecocardiografíca que la angiotomografica. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
