| Abstract (English): |
The antibiotics can be natural or synthetical compound which have the activity of inhibiting the proliferation of microorganisms or cause the death of bacteria and fungi. This therapy class is commonly prescribed in hospitals, where was made this exploratory, descriptive and retrospective study, directed to the analysis of the Teresina public hospital pharmacy database. It was verified the antibiotics dispensed to the Intensive Care Unit in the period of January to July 2019. The results obtained were tabulated using Microsoft® Excel® 2010 Software and posteriorly discussed using the database as scientific reference. About 321 cases were observed, having as the most prevalent the association Pipperacillin + Tazobactam. They were followed by Meropenem, Cephalophin and Vancomycin, respectively. The most common justification for the use of these was septic condition which great part of the treatment will do antibiogram, emphasizing its need. In an intensive care environment, the majority of the pathogen are more resistant. Therefore, it is indispensable to know the microbial profile of the hospital and local epidemiology, in order to establish efficient politics to the rational use of antimicrobials, providing to the health professionals a continued education.
