acute diarrhea is one of the most common diseases during pediatric age. nutritional intervention should be early, especially in severe cases, to minimize complications and deterioration of nutritional status. the adequate supply of nutrients facilitates the recovery of the intestinal mucosa and therefore of the clinical status. In this summary we highlight the fundamentals in re feeding in the different pediatric ages, as well as the nutritional management of the child with malnutrition and acute diarrhea., to reduce the risks of malnutrition and the prolongation of the clinical disease. la diarrea aguda es una de las enfermedades más frecuentes durante la edad pediátrica. la intervención nutricional debe ser precoz, sobre todo en los cuadros graves, con el fin minimizar las complicaciones y el deterioro del estado nutricional. el aporte adecuado de nutrientes facilita la recuperación de la mucosa intestinal y por ende del cuadro clínico. en este artículo destacamos los fundamentos de la alimentación durante la diarrea aguda en las diferentes edades pediátricas, así como el manejo nutricional del niño con desnutrición y diarrea, con el fin de aminorar los riesgos de malnutrición por déficit y la prolongación del cuadro clínico.
