Abstract (English):	In the present work there is a description of the penal protection of the environment in Chile in which the model of dispensing with the penal instrument to protect the environment as a system is a characteristic. This makes it necessary to briefly review the environmental administrative regulation and criminal provisions, conceived for other purposes that allow addressing events that threaten the environment. Despite the advances of the last decades, it has not been possible to move to a regulation model, whether general or special, and there is little prospect of doing so. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish):	En el presente trabajo se encuentra una descripción de la protección penal del medio ambiente en Chile en que el modelo de prescindencia del instrumento penal para proteger el medio ambiente como sistema es una característica. Eso obliga a revisar someramente la regulación administrativa ambiental y las disposiciones penales, concebidas con otros fines que permiten abordar los sucesos que atentan contra el medio ambiente. A pesar de los avances de las últimas décadas no se ha logrado transitar a un modelo de regulación sea general o especial y se augura escasa posibilidades de hacerlo. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
