Abstract (English): The Medicina UPB magazine presents its first issue of 2023, which includes 12 manuscripts, including five original research papers, five narrative reviews, and two case reports. The topics addressed include fasting in patients undergoing intervention under local anesthesia, substance use in patients with schizophrenia, the relationship between nutrition and anxiety in athletes during COVID-19 confinement, the behaviors of patients attempting suicide through acetaminophen overdose, the heterogeneity of clinical reviews in cardiology, the impact of oxidized protein consumption on health, work organization stressors and occupational accidents, tinnitus, suicide prevention, and genetic sequencing in brain tumors. Two case reports are also presented on pancreatitis as a complication of the use of valproic acid and cocaine consumption. [Extracted from the article]
Abstract (Spanish): La revista Medicina UPB presenta su primer número del 2023, que incluye 12 manuscritos, entre ellos cinco investigaciones originales, cinco revisiones narrativas y dos reportes de casos. Los temas abordados incluyen el ayuno en pacientes sometidos a intervencionismo bajo anestesia local, el consumo de sustancias en pacientes con esquizofrenia, la relación entre la alimentación y la ansiedad en deportistas durante el confinamiento por COVID-19, los comportamientos de los pacientes con intento de suicidio mediante sobredosis de acetaminofén, la heterogeneidad de las revisiones clínicas en cardiología, el impacto del consumo de proteínas oxidadas sobre la salud, los estresores de la organización del trabajo y los accidentes laborales, el tinnitus, la prevención del suicidio y la secuenciación genética en tumores cerebrales. También se presentan dos reportes de caso sobre pancreatitis como complicación del uso de ácido valproico y consumo de cocaína. [Extracted from the article]
