| Abstract (English): | Introduction: Atopic dermatitis produces intense itching and eczematous lesions that worsen chronic quality of life. The dermocosmetic Aquatop® rescue cream is currently available, indicated for mild and moderate conditions. The objective was to describe the clinical course in a cohort of patients with exacerbation of atopic dermatitis, who received treatment with Aquatop® rescue cream for a period of fifteen days. Methods: A prospective descriptive study based on the medical records of a cohort of patients with mild to moderate exacerbation of their atopic dermatitis. Its evolution was described using the Scoring Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) variable, that measures the level of severity of atopic dermatitis. Additionally, the average pruritus and its maximum level in the last 24 hours were recorded. Three evaluations were carried out: at baseline, on the seventh day and on the fifteenth day. Results: The clinical data of 60 patients were recorded, with a median age of 12.5 years (IQR: 7-19.5) and 50.0% men (30/60). The median SCORAD at admission was 29.4 points, it decreased to 14 points on the seventh day and reached 12.2 points on the fifteenth day. At the beginning of the follow-up, 65% of the cases were classified as moderate exacerbation, and this percentage was reduced on the seventh day to 13.3%, which decreased to 10% on day fifteen. Conclusions: Aquatop® rescue cream is a therapeutic alternative that has a favorable clinical effect in patients with mild and moderate exacerbations of atopic dermatitis, due to its rapid effect on the reduction of symptoms and its adequate safety profile. | Abstract (Spanish): | Introducción: Introducción: la dermatitis atópica produce prurito y lesiones eccematosas que afectan la calidad de vida. Actualmente está disponible el dermocosmético Aquatop® crema rescate, indicado para cuadros leves a moderados. El objetivo fue describir el curso clínico de una cohorte de pacientes con exacerbación de la dermatitis atópica, que recibieron tratamiento con Aquatop® crema rescate durante 15 días. Métodos: estudio descriptivo prospectivo, con base en registros clínicos de pacientes con exacerbación leve a moderada de su dermatitis atópica. Se describió su evolución empleando la variable puntuación de la gravedad de la dermatitis atópica (SCORAD). Se registró el promedio de prurito y su nivel máximo en las últimas 24 horas. Se hicieron tres evaluaciones: basal, al día 7 y al día 15. Resultados: se incluyeron 60 pacientes, con una mediana de edad de 12,5 años (rango intercuartílico [RIQ]: 7-19,5); 50% eran hombres (30/60). La mediana de SCORAD al ingreso fue de 29,4 puntos, que se redujo a 14 puntos al día 7 y llegó a 12,2 puntos al día 15. Al inicio del seguimiento, el 65% de los casos fueron clasificados como exacerbación moderada, y este porcentaje se redujo al día 7 hasta un 13,3%, que para el día 15 disminuyó al 10%. En total, se presentaron nueve eventos adversos leves. Conclusiones: Aquatop® crema rescate es una alternativa terapéutica que tiene un efecto clínico favorable en los pacientes con exacerbaciones de la dermatitis atópica leves y moderadas, por su rápido efecto sobre la reducción de los síntomas y su adecuado perfil de seguridad.
