Abstract (English):	Recognition and treatment of dentofacial deformities in the orthodontic patient is one of the clinician responsabilities and offer the option to improve the facial and dental appearance with function and stability. In this paper we show the aesthetic and functional advantages that can be reached combining the orthodontic treatment with the surgical approach and the orthognatic surgery managed by the orthodontist-maxilofacial surgeon team. Abstract (Spanish):	El reconocimiento y tratamiento de deformidades dentofaciales presentes en el paciente ortodóntico es una de las responsebilidades del clínico, así como ofrecerle la opción de mejorar su apariencio facial y dental dentro de un marco de funcionalidad y estabilidad. En el presente artículo se muestran las ventajas estéticas y funcionales que se pueden obtener al combinar el tratamiento ortodóntico con el quirúrgico por medio de la cirugía ortognática llevado a cabo por el equipo ortodoncista-cirujano maxilofacial.
