| Abstract (English): |
OBJECTIVES: To determine sebum levels in Mexicans with acne and asses if there is a correlation among amount of sebum and age, gender, clinical variety and severity of acne. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional study was carried out from April 2022 to March 2023 at the Dermatological Center Dr. Ladislao de la Pascua of Mexico City. Volunteers with acne participated in this study. The facial sebum was measure with Sebumeter® SM 815. RESULTS: One hundred fourteen patients were included, sebum levels in Mexicans with acne were 115.0197 ± 38.66407 μg/cm2, no correlation was found between the amount of sebum and the severity of acne. T zone had the highest amount of sebum (121 ± 10.02 μg/cm2) than U zone (84.91 ± 45.15 μg/cm2; p = 0.0001; t = 9.32). Regarding the clinical variety of acne, comedonal and papulopustular, there was no statistically significant difference in the amount of sebum (p = 0.308). CONCLUSIONS: This study shows the amount of sebum in Mexican patients with acne and suggests that the amount is not the main factor to produce acne. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
