Abstract (English): Objective: identify related factors with ophthalmologic affections reported by students in a private university in Medellín, 2021. Methodology: cross sectional study with analytic intention, there were used secondary sources derived from the project Características y percepción de la presencialidad asistida por ayudas tecnológicas en una universidad privada de la ciudad de Medellín, prepandemia y en pandemia 2020-2021. Population: Registries of the 194 enquiries of the participants in the big primary study. In this case, there were explored ophthalmologic affection they have had suffered pre-pandemic and pandemic. Excluded registries with 10 % incomplete information, with imputing data and assumed original bias of the primary study. Calculated the prevalence of ophthalmologic affections, sociodemographic factors, exposition to electronic devices, academic load and made bivariate analyzes in Jamovi. Results: of 194 participants, 70 % were women, 92.8 % single, 87.1 % lived in the Metropolitan area. Refractive errors increased in 1.5 %, sore eye 22.2 %, ocular fatigue 37.7 %, tearing 8.8 % and ocular pain 16 %. During pandemic times all ophthalmologic conditions were more common in women, most people who reported affections also reported high academic burden and more than 12 hours of screen exposure. Conclusions: ophthalmologic affections, screen exposure time and high academic burden increased during pandemic period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Objetivo: identificar factores relacionados con afecciones oftalmológicas reportadas por estudiantes de una universidad privada en Medellín, 2021. Metodología: estudio transversal con intensión analítica realizado mediante fuentes secundarias de información y derivado del macroproyecto Características y percepción de la presencialidad asistida por ayudas tecnológicas en una universidad privada de la ciudad de Medellín, prepandemia y en pandemia 2020-2021. Población: 194 participantes del estudio macro, en este caso se exploraron las afecciones oftalmológicas que habían presentado prepandemia y pandemia. Se excluyeron registros con 10 % de información incompleta, se imputaron datos faltantes y se asumieron sesgos de estudio primario. Se calculó la prevalencia de afecciones oftalmológicas, factores sociodemográficos, exposición de dispositivos electrónicos, carga académica y se realizaron análisis bivariados en Jamovi. Resultados: de 194 participantes, 70 % eran mujeres, 92.8 % solteros y 87.1 % residían en el área metropolitana. Durante la pandemia se aumentaron los errores de refracción 1.5 %, ojo seco 22.2 %, fatiga ocular 37.7 %, lagrimeo 8.8 % y dolor ocular 16 %. Así mismo, todas las afecciones oftalmológicas se presentaron más en mujeres, la mayoría de las personas con afecciones reportaron alta carga académica y exposición a pantallas mayor a 12 horas. Conclusiones: las afecciones oftalmológicas, el tiempo a exposición en pantallas y la percepción de la carga académica aumentaron durante el periodo de pandemia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Portuguese): Objetivo: identificar fatores relacionados às condições oftalmológicas relatadas por estudantes de uma universidade privada de Medellín, 2021. Metodologia: estudo transversal com intenção analítica realizado a partir de fontes secundárias de informação e derivado do macroprojeto Características e percepção de presença assistida por ajudas tecnológicas em uma universidade privada da cidade de Medellín, pré-pandemia e na pandemia 2020-2021. População: foram exploradas 194 participantes do estudo macro, neste caso foram exploradas as condições oftalmológicas que apresentavam pré-pandemia e pandemia. Os registros com 10% de informações incompletas foram excluídos, os dados faltantes foram imputados e os vieses do estudo primário foram assumidos. Calculou-se a prevalência de condições oftalmológicas, fatores sociodemográficos, exposição a dispositivos eletrônicos, carga acadêmica e análises bivariadas em Jamovi . Resultados: Dos 194 participantes, 70% eram mulheres, 92,8% eram solteiros e 87,1% residiam na região metropolitana. Durante a pandemia, os erros de refração aumentaram 1,5%, o olho seco 22,2%, a fadiga ocular 37,7%, o lacrimejamento 8,8% e a dor ocular 16%. Da mesma forma, todas as condições oftalmológicas ocorreram mais em mulheres, a maioria das pessoas com condições relatou elevada carga acadêmica e exposição a telas superior a 12 horas. Conclusões: as condições oftalmológicas, o tempo de exposição às telas e a percepção da carga acadêmica aumentaram durante o período pandêmico. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
