Abstract (English): Objective: To describe a prosthetic rehabilitation with a telescopic prosthesis to improve child's self -steem. Case report: A female 4-year-5-month-old patient attended the Dental Clinic of the Universidad Cientí- fica del Sur, Lima-Peru along with her parents. They requested treatment due to dental caries lesions that affected their daughter's self-esteem. Oral clinical examination and radiographs revealed early childhood caries. After assessing the diagnosis, the former dental treatment was planned for the child. The treatment included dental prophylaxis, hygiene guidelines, restorations and pulp therapy. Also, it was planned to place a telescopic prosthesis replacing 51. Conclusion: Anterior aesthetic prosthetic rehabilitation is a good alternative to the premature loss of deciduous upper anterior teeth since it restore aesthetics, improve phonation. GMoreover, it has a good acceptance and a positive impact on child's self-steem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Objetivo: Describir la confección de una prótesis telescópica como parte del tratamiento odontológico para mejorar la autoestima de un paciente pediátrico. Reporte de Caso: Paciente femenina de 4 años y 5 meses de edad que acudió a la Clínica Odontológica de la Universidad Científica del Sur, Lima-Perú junto a sus padres quienes solicitaron tratamiento por lesiones de caries dental que afectaban la autoestima de su hija. El examen clínico oral y las radiografías revelaron el diagnóstico de caries en la primera infancia. Después de determinar el diagnóstico, se planificó el tratamiento dental anterior para el paciente. El plan de tratamiento incluyó orientaciones sobre el cuidado de la salud bucal, profilaxis dental, restauraciones y terapia pulpar. Además, se planificó la confección de una prótesis telescópica en reemplazo de la pieza 51. Conclusiones: La rehabilitación protésica estética anterior es una alternativa a la pérdida prematura de dientes anterosuperiores primarios, pues tiene buena aceptación, devuelve la estética, mejora la fonación, e impacta positivamente en la autoestima del paciente pediátrico.
