| Abstract (English): | Objective: To explore the development of the concept of Community Mental Health in Latin America, focusing on its theoretical conceptualizations and considering its academic and sociopolitical contexts. Methodology: An integrative review of the literature was conducted in the databases Scopus, SciELO and Redalyc and in external sources using MeSH terms. Results: 69 records were analyzed and showed that the term Community Mental Health in Latin America has been a dynamic concept in constant transformation and that its meaning depends on the historical moment and the gnoseological perspective in which it is used. Conclusion: The hegemony of the biomedical and psychiatric model, the replication of asylum logics, the notions of mental health from disease, and the exercise of power of Governments over communities are considered persistent challenges for the implementation of effective and relevant community models in mental health in Latin America. | Abstract (Spanish): | Objetivo: explorar el desarrollo del concepto de salud mental comunitaria en Latinoamérica, enfocándose en sus conceptualizaciones teóricas y teniendo en cuenta sus contextos académicos y sociopolíticos. Metodología: revisión integrativa de la literatura en las bases de datos de Scopus, SciELO y Redalyc, y en fuentes externas a partir de la utilización de términos DeCS. Resultados: se analizaron 69 registros, en los cuales se evidenció que el término de salud mental comunitaria en Latinoamérica ha sido un concepto dinámico en constante transformación y que su significado depende del momento histórico y la perspectiva gnoseológica en el que se utilice. Conclusión: la hegemonía del modelo biomédico y psiquiátrico, la replicación de lógicas asilares, las nociones de salud mental desde la enfermedad y el ejercicio de poder de los gobiernos sobre las comunidades son considerados desafíos persistentes para la implementación de modelos comunitarios efectivos y pertinentes en salud mental en Latinoamérica. | Abstract (Portuguese): | Objetivo: explorar o desenvolvimento do conceito de saúde mental comunitária na América Latina, focando em suas conceituações teóricas e considerando seus contextos acadêmicos e sociopolíticos. Metodologia: foi realizada revisão integrativa da literatura nas bases de dados Scopus, SciELO e Redalyc, bem como em fontes externas com base no uso de termos do DeCS. Resultados: foram analisados 69 registros, que mostraram que o termo "saúde mental comunitária" na América Latina tem sido um conceito dinâmico em constante transformação e que seu significado depende do momento histórico e da perspectiva gnoseológica em que é utilizado.
