Abstract (English): Catfish, popularly known as "catfish", belong to the super-order Ostariophysi, to the order Siluriformes, comprising 38 related families and 3844 species, in which these animals are important components in the capture of freshwater fish in South America, one of the species is the jundiá (Rhamdia quelen), which belongs to the Heptapteridae family. The cultivation of jundiá (Rhamdia quelen) is carried out predominantly in Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil. This medium-sized fish has aquaculture production that is still low, but with a tendency to grow. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out more studies on the species, especially in the reproductive area, in order to improve its reproductive performance. Cryopreservation, which consists of preserving liquid biological material at very low temperatures using nitrogen, is an important technique to improve the reproduction of the species. In order to analyze the publications, the platforms Web Science and Pub Med were used. The research was carried out by searching for articles with the keywords: "cryopreservation", "catfish", "Rhamdia quelen". In which the search was categorized by authors, countries, journals, research areas, where 226 studies were found with catfish covering different countries and 28 different species, and only 23 studies with (Rhamdia quelen), but specific on the cryopreservation only 9 studies, the rest are from related areas, and among these, many articles are repeated on both search platforms. O cultivo do jundiá (Rhamdia quelen) é realizado predominantemente no Uruguai, Argentina e Brasil.
