| Abstract (English): | Skin and soft tissue infections in patients with ve nous and lymphatic diseases are a common occurrence with a notable impact on quality of life and healthcare costs. Furthermore, there are challenges in diagnosing and managing these infections, as inflammatory condi tions linked to chronic venous disease can mimic infec tions, leading to the inappropriate use of antimicrobials and increased antimicrobial resistance. To effectively manage these infections, a multidisci plinary approach is essential, integrating non-pharma cological treatments and promoting the rational use of antimicrobials, particularly in resource-limited contexts like Latin America, where local needs are not adequately addressed by existing guidelines. This document, developed in collaboration with the Argentine Society of Infectology and national and re gional Phlebology and Lymphology Societies, presents recommendations to prevent and effectively treat infec tions associated with venous and lymphatic pathologies in adults. Additionally, it incorporates the perspective of patient societies to provide a comprehensive and contextualized approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Las infecciones de piel y partes blandas en pacientes con enfermedades venosas y linfáticas son frecuentes y tienen un impacto notable en la calidad de vida y los costos sanitarios. Además, el diagnóstico y el tratamiento de estas infecciones plantean dificultades, ya que las afecciones inflamatorias relacionadas con la enfermedad venosa crónica pueden simular infecciones, lo que conduce al uso inadecuado de antimicrobianos y al aumento de la resistencia a los mismos. Para tratar eficazmente estas infecciones, es esencial un enfoque multidisciplinario que integre tratamientos no farmacológicos y promueva el uso racional de los an timicrobianos, especialmente en contextos de recursos limitados como América Latina, donde las necesidades locales no se abordan adecuadamente en las Guías de práctica internacionales existentes. Este documento, desarrollado en colaboración con la Sociedad Argentina de Infectología y las Sociedades na cionales y regionales de Flebología y Linfología, incluye recomendaciones para prevenir y tratar eficazmente las infecciones asociadas a patologías venosas y linfáticas en adultos.
