Se destaca la evolución del hospital desde su apertura en 1970, pasando por cambios de nombre y dirección, así como los desafíos políticos y económicos enfrentados a lo largo de los años. A pesar de las dificultades, el INP ha mantenido un crecimiento sostenido en diversas especialidades médicas y ha contribuido significativamente a la formación de pediatras en el país. Además, se menciona la creación de la Clínica de Atención Integral del Niño Maltratado (CAINM), que ha sido fundamental en la atención del maltrato infantil y ha logrado un reconocimiento nacional e internacional.
