| Abstract (English): |
Innovative drugs are new molecules or those that are already in use, but with new indications. They can have a synthetic or biological origin. In view of this, the objective of this study was to analyze the registrations of drugs approved in Brazil in the period from 2015 to 2024, to evaluate the main pathologies involved, the annual variations, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the differences between synthetics and biologics. This is an observational, retrospective, quantitative and descriptive study, based on secondary data obtained from public spreadsheets made available by the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), organized and analyzed by means of simple descriptive statistics. The results showed a predominance of registrations of synthetic drugs in all periods, with emphasis on cardiovascular, antidepressant and hormonal drugs. Among biologics, vaccines, antineoplastic and antidiabetic drugs prevailed, with a significant increase in the number of registrations during the pandemic, especially for vaccines and drugs related to coagulation. It is concluded that pharmaceutical innovation in Brazil in the last ten years has been concentrated in areas of high profitability, such as oncology and metabolic diseases, while neglected diseases have remained with low stimulus to innovation, evidencing the need for public policies that promote equitable access to new therapies. Os medicamentos inovadores são moléculas inéditas ou que já estão em uso, mas com novas indicações. Eles podem ter origem sintética ou biológica. Diante disso, o objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar os registros de medicamentos aprovados no Brasil entre 2015 a 2024, avaliando as principais patologias envolvidas, as variações anuais, o impacto da pandemia da COVID-19 e as diferenças entre sintéticos e biológicos. Trata-se de um estudo observacional, retrospectivo, quantitativo e descritivo, baseado em dados secundários obtidos de planilhas públicas disponibilizadas pela Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (ANVISA), organizados e analisados por meio de estatística descritiva simples. Os resultados demonstraram predominância de registros de medicamentos sintéticos em todos os períodos, com destaque para fármacos cardiovasculares, antidepressivos e hormonais. Entre os biológicos, prevaleceram vacinas, antineoplásicos e antidiabéticos, sendo observada elevação expressiva no número de registros durante a pandemia, especialmente para vacinas e medicamentos relacionados à coagulação. Conclui-se que a inovação farmacêutica no Brasil nos últimos dez anos concentrou-se em áreas de alta rentabilidade, como oncologia e doenças metabólicas, enquanto as doenças negligenciadas permaneceram com baixo estímulo à inovação, evidenciando a necessidade de políticas públicas que promovam o acesso equitativo a novas terapias.
