This document is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Guillermo Fajardo Ortiz (1931–2025), a man who made history in Mexico’s health care system and a leading intellectual, academic, and moral reference in Mexican medicine. A graduate of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with solid national and international postgraduate training, he devoted more than five decades to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) as a physician, educator, researcher, historian, and exemplary public servant. An integral humanist and institution builder, he strengthened the identity, ethics, and quality of health services. A pioneer of medical audit and an essential contributor to the Revista Médica del IMSS, his legacy endures through his works, his disciples, and the nation’s institutional memory. El presente escrito está dedicado a la memoria del Dr. Guillermo Fajardo Ortiz (1931-2025), un hombre que hizo historia en el sistema de salud de México. Referente intelectual, académico y moral de la medicina mexicana. Egresado de la UNAM y con sólida formación de posgrado nacional e internacional, dedicó más de cinco décadas al IMSS como médico, docente, investigador, historiador y servidor público ejemplar. Humanista íntegro y constructor de instituciones, fortaleció la identidad, la ética y la calidad de los servicios de salud. Pionero de la auditoría médica y colaborador esencial de la Revista Médica del IMSS, su legado perdura en sus obras, discípulos y en la memoria institucional del país. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
