| Abstract (English): |
Objective. To estimate the prevalence of functional difficulties suggestive of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) among individuals aged 2 to 17 years. Materials and methods. We analyzed data from the Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición 2021-2023; the analysis considered 18 299 participants with completed information on functional difficulties. We calculated the prevalence and 95% confidence intervals for each functional domain and for overall difficulties suggestive of NDDs, both nationally and stratified by age, sex, and region. Results. Overall, 7.7% of individuals aged 2 to 17 years presented functional difficulties suggestive of NDDs, with higher prevalence among those aged 5 to 17 years (8.6%) than those aged 2 to 4 years (3.7%). In the younger group (2 to 4 years), boys showed higher prevalence than girls (4.8 vs. 2.6%), whereas in the older group (5 to 17 years), girls presented higher prevalence than boys (9.3 vs. 8.0%). The regions with the highest prevalence of functional difficulties suggestive of NDDs were Estado de México (9.0%) and the Peninsula region (8.9%), with differences observed by sex. Conclusion. Public policies should promote early detection, timely care, and equitable access to appropriate services to ensure full and effective social participation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
