Abstract (English): Introduction: The temporomandibular joint plays an important physiological role in humans by participating in activities such as speaking, eating, chewing, yawning, which is why it is a highly demanded joint and susceptible to alterations recognized as temporomandibular disorders, which are highly frequent and They imply a limitation in daily movements and other associated symptoms, constituting a global health problem; The student population being extremely susceptible to these disorders due to their relationship with psychosocial factors. Objective: Identify the triggering factors of tmd in students of the Faculty of Physiotherapy of the ces University in 2024. Methodology: Cross-sectional observational quantitative study with a descriptive approach through bivariate analysis, objectively identifying the association between temporomandibular disorders and possible triggering factors. Results: 297 students from the Faculty of Physiotherapy participated, of which 58% were female, the average age was 20. Greater symptoms were identified as associated with the female sex; however, an association was also found with the quality of sleep, the practice of sports or physical activity, semester taken, subjects enrolled, and sporadic episodes of anxiety. Conclusion: Academic load, sleep quality and emotional stress are important triggering factors of tmd, which highlights the importance of addressing psychoemotional well-being and the implementation of healthy habits in the university environment. Abstract (Spanish): Introducción. La articulación temporomandibular cumple un rol fisiológico importante en el ser humano participando en actividades como hablar, comer, masticar, bostezar, por lo que es una articulación altamente demandada y susceptible de presentar alteraciones reconocidas como trastornos temporomandibulares (ttm), los cuales son frecuentes e implican una limitación en los movimientos cotidianos y otros síntomas asociados, constituyendo un problema de salud a nivel mundial; siendo la población estudiantil sumamente susceptible a estos trastornos por su relación con factores psicosociales. Objetivo: identificar los factores desencadenantes de los ttm en estudiantes de la facultad de fisioterapia. Metodología: estudio cuantitativo, observacional, transversal con enfoque descriptivo. Se realizó una encuesta a todos los estudiantes de la facultad de fisioterapia de la Universidad ces. Resultados: participaron 297 sujetos, el 58 % eran del sexo femenino, la media de edad fue 20 años. Se identificó mayor sintomatología dolorosa asociada al sexo femenino, además se asoció la presencia de los ttm con la calidad del sueño, la práctica de deporte o actividad física, semestre cursado, materias matriculadas y episodios esporádicos de ansiedad. Conclusión: la carga académica, la calidad del sueño y el estrés emocional son factores desencadenantes importantes de los ttm, por lo que se destaca la importancia de abordar el bienestar psicoemocional y la implementación de hábitos saludables en el ámbito universitario. Abstract (Portuguese): Introdução. A articulação temporomandibular desempenha um importante papel fisiológico em atividades humanas como falar, comer, mastigar e bocejar. Portanto, é uma articulação altamente estressada e suscetível a alterações reconhecidas como disfunções temporomandibulares (DTMs). Estas são comuns e implicam limitações nos movimentos diários e outros sintomas associados, constituindo um problema de saúde global. A população estudantil é altamente suscetível a essas disfunções devido à sua relação com fatores psicossociais. Objetivo: Identificar os fatores desencadeantes de DTMs em estudantes da Faculdade de Fisioterapia. Metodologia: Estudo quantitativo, observacional, transversal, com abordagem descritiva. Foi realizado um survey com todos os estudantes da Faculdade de Fisioterapia da Universidade CES. Resultados: Participaram 297 indivíduos; 58% eram do sexo feminino e a média de idade foi de 20 anos. Identificou-se maior incidência de sintomas dolorosos entre as mulheres, e a presença de DTM também foi associada à qualidade do sono, prática de esporte ou atividade física, semestre concluído, indivíduos matriculados e episódios esporádicos de ansiedade. Conclusão: Carga acadêmica, qualidade do sono e estresse emocional são importantes desencadeadores de DTM, destacando a importância de abordar o bem-estar psicoemocional e implementar hábitos saudáveis no ambiente universitário.
