| Abstract (English): | Introduction: Implant-based breast reconstruction remains a widely accepted postmastectomy technique, with a meaningful impact on patient-reported quality of life. This study describes a cohort of patients undergoing this procedure and analyzes clinical factors associated with outcomes assessed through the BREAST-Q questionnaire. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted including 55 patients operated on by the same surgeon. Clinical and surgical data were collected, and the BREAST-Q questionnaire was administered. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify associations between clinical variables and the questionnaire domains. Results: Psychosocial well-being was the highest-rated domain, while sexual well-being scored lowest. Adjuvant radiotherapy was negatively associated with overall satisfaction, implant satisfaction, and satisfaction with the reconstructed breast. Patients with history of mood disorders exhibited higher rates of postoperative complications. Conclusions: Quality of life in implant-based breast reconstruction is influenced by various clinical and therapeutic factors. Radiotherapy can be associated with less favorable patient-reported outcomes. These findings highlight the need for informed surgical planning, multidisciplinary care, and a patient-centered approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
| Abstract (Spanish): | Introducción: La reconstrucción mamaria con implantes constituye una alternativa ampliamente utilizada tras la mastectomía total por cáncer de mama, con impacto significativo en la calidad de vida. Este estudio describe una cohorte de pacientes sometidas a esta técnica y analiza los factores clínicos asociados a sus resultados subjetivos, evaluados mediante el cuestionario BREAST-Q. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio transversal retrospectivo que incluyó a 55 pacientes intervenidas por un mismo cirujano. Se recolectaron antecedentes clínicos y quirúrgicos, y se aplicó el cuestionario BREAST-Q. Se realizó análisis univariado y multivariado para evaluar asociaciones entre variables clínicas y los distintos dominios del cuestionario. Resultados: El dominio mejor valorado fue el bienestar psicosocial, mientras que el bienestar sexual presentó las puntuaciones más bajas. La radioterapia adyuvante se asoció negativamente con la satisfacción global, la satisfacción con los implantes y la mama reconstruida. Asimismo, las pacientes con antecedentes de trastornos del ánimo presentaron mayor incidencia de complicaciones. Conclusiones: La calidad de vida de las pacientes reconstruidas se ve influida por múltiples factores clínicos y terapéuticos. La radioterapia se asocia a peores resultados autorreportados.
