| Abstract (English): |
The article focuses on the importance of nursing interventions during the administration of intravesical immunotherapy with BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guérin) for the treatment of non–muscle-invasive bladder tumors (NMIBC). It describes the standardized procedure for BCG administration, including the preparation of the medication, bladder catheterization, and care before, during, and after instillation, following the guidelines of the European Association of Urology (EAU). Additionally, it highlights the fundamental role of the nursing professional in the safe handling of the drug, clinical assessment of the patient, monitoring of the therapeutic regimen, and effective communication for the follow-up and management of possible adverse effects. The article is based on a narrative review and analysis of practices in urology services in Argentina and Spain, emphasizing the need for specific training and clear protocols to ensure the safety and efficacy of the treatment. El artículo se centra en la importancia de las intervenciones de enfermería durante la aplicación de la inmunoterapia intravesical con BCG (Bacilo de Calmette y Guérin) para el tratamiento de tumores de vejiga no músculo-invasivos (NMIBC, por sus siglas en inglés). Describe el procedimiento estandarizado para la administración del BCG, incluyendo la preparación del medicamento, el cateterismo vesical, y los cuidados antes, durante y después de la instilación, siguiendo las directrices de la Asociación Europea de Urología (EAU). Además, destaca el rol fundamental del profesional de enfermería en la manipulación segura del fármaco, la valoración clínica del paciente, el control del esquema terapéutico y la comunicación efectiva para el seguimiento y manejo de posibles efectos adversos. El artículo se basa en una revisión narrativa y análisis de prácticas en servicios de urología de Argentina y España, subrayando la necesidad de formación específica y protocolos claros para garantizar la seguridad y eficacia del tratamiento.
