Abstract (English): The Research Ethics Committee of the Institute for Health Sciences Research is responsible for safeguarding the dignity, rights, safety, and well-being of actual or potential participants involved in research studies. The update of the regulations of the Research Ethics Committee (REC) of the Institute for Health Sciences Research of the National University of Asunción (IICS-UNA), previously approved by Resolution No. 132/2011 dated April 4, 2011, was not only necessary but urgent in order to improve the quality and efficiency of the protocol reviews conducted at the institution, as well as to align the criteria with current international regulations. Since June 2023, the members appointed by Resolution No. 030/2023 have actively participated in the review and update of this important document: María Eugenia Acosta (Biochemist), Ronald Rivas (Bachelor in History), Amalia Castro (Physician), Florencia del Puerto (Biologist), Fátima Rodríguez (Biochemist), Noelia Alvarenga (Biochemist), Eva Nara (Veterinarian), Alicia Schinini (Veterinarian), Viviana Martínez (Veterinarian), Nilda Portillo (Biologist), Dominich Granado (Biochemist), Graciela Giménez (Biochemist), and Sara Aguilar-Coronel (Biologist). Following a thorough analysis, the revised version was approved by Resolution No. 111/2025 dated May 22, 2025. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): El Comité de Ética en Investigación del Instituto de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Salud cumple la función de velar por el respeto a la dignidad, los derechos, la seguridad y el bienestar de los sujetos participantes –actuales o potenciales- de una investigación. La actualización del reglamento del CEI del IICS-UNA, previamente aprobada por Resolución Nº 132/2011 de fecha 04 de abril de 2011, no era sólo necesaria, sino urgente para mejorar la calidad y eficiencia de las revisiones de los protocolos que se han venido evaluando en la institución, además de ajustar los criterios a las regulaciones internacionales vigentes. Desde junio del año 2023 los miembros designados por resolución Nº 030/2023, han participado activamente en la revisión y actualización de tan relevante documento: María Eugenia Acosta (Bioquímica), Ronald Rivas (Licenciado en Historia), Amalia Castro (Médica), Florencia del Puerto (Licenciada en Biología), Fátima Rodríguez (Bioquímica), Noelia Alvarenga (Bioquímica), Eva Nara (Médica Veterinaria), Alicia Schinini (Médica Veterinaria), Viviana Martínez (Médica Veterinaria), Nilda Portillo (Licenciada en Biología), Dominich Granado (Bioquímica), Graciela Giménez (Bioquímica) y Sara Aguilar-Coronel (Licenciada en Biología).
