Abstract (English): Chiari malformation type I (CM-I) is a congenital neurological condition that can significantly impact patients’ quality of life. Several studies have reported cognitive and emotional dysfunctions in individuals with CM-I, highlighting the need for a deeper understanding of its symptomatology. The aim of this study was to assess executive functioning and trait anxiety in three adult patients diagnosed with CM-I. A case study design was employed using a mixed-methods approach. Participants were three adult women aged between 28 and 55 years. The results revealed variability in cognitive profiles, showing that patients with low executive performance reported active physical symptoms that interfered with daily functioning, while the patient with higher executive functioning was clinically asymptomatic. Emotionally, all three cases exhibited elevated trait anxiety scores. These findings underscore the importance of a comprehensive assessment of CM-I that includes not only physical symptoms but also cognitive and emotional factors, in order to guide more holistic and personalized interventions. Abstract (Spanish): La malformación de Chiari tipo I (MC-I) es una condición neurológica congénita que puede afectar significativamente la calidad de vida de quienes la padecen. Diversos estudios han reportado alteraciones en el funcionamiento cognitivo y emocional en estos pacientes, lo que subraya la importancia de profundizar en la caracterización de sus síntomas. Por ello, el objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar el perfil de funcionamiento ejecutivo y los síntomas de ansiedad en tres pacientes adultas con MC-I. Se llevo a cabo un estudio de casos con un enfoque metodológico mixto. Las participantes fueron tres mujeres, con edades entre 28 y 55 años. Los resultados mostraron variabilidad en el desempeño ejecutivo, evidenciando que los casos con bajo rendimiento cognitivo presentaban sintomatología física activa que afectaba su calidad de vida, mientras que el caso con mejor desempeño ejecutivo se encontraba clínicamente asintomático. En el plano emocional, los tres casos registraron niveles elevados de ansiedad rasgo. Estos hallazgos destacan la necesidad de una evaluación integral en pacientes con MC-I, que contemple no solo los síntomas físicos, sino también los aspectos neurocognitivos y emocionales, con el fin de orientar intervenciones más completas y personalizadas.
