People of reproductive age with epilepsy experience physiological changes related to sexuality, fertility, and pregnancy. In this context, interactions between anti-seizure medications and contraceptives, seizure modifications, potential major congenital malformations due to the medication, and risks in obstetrics and breastfeeding are common. Personalized follow-up is required for the effective management and therefore we have updated the previous 2019 guidelines. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

Las personas con epilepsia en edad fértil (PEEF) experimentan cambios fisiológicos relacionados con la sexualidad, la fertilidad y el embarazo. En este contexto se presentan interacciones entre los medicamentos anticrisis epilépticas (MAC) y anticonceptivos, modificaciones de las crisis epilépticas, posibles malformaciones congénitas mayores por MAC, riesgos en obstetricia y lactancia. Se requiere un seguimiento personalizado para el manejo efectivo de las PEEF, por lo que actualizamos la guía anterior de 2019. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
