Abstract (English): Objective: To determine methodological quality (MQ) and level of evidence (LoE) of articles published in Revista de Cirugía (RC) and their association with year of publication, origin, and disciplinary area. Material and Methods: Bibliometric study. Articles published between 2023 and 2025 were included, while "Editorials," "Images and Surgery," "Surgery Today," "Documents," "Surgical Techniques," and "Letters to the Editor" were excluded. Study design, disciplinary area, origin, LoE, and MQ were analyzed. MInCir-T scale was used to assess MQ, MInCir-ODS checklist for reporting quality, and Oxford-CEBM tool for LoE classification. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were performed. Results: 235 articles were analyzed [134 case reports and case series (57.0%), 60 narrative reviews (25.5%), 12 cross-sectional studies (5.1%), 11 cohort studies (4.7%), 6 systematic reviews (2.5%), 6 clinical trials and quasi-experimental studies (2.5%), and 2 case–control studies (0.9%)]. The studies come mainly from the Metropolitan Region (60.0%) and other countries (24.2%). The disciplines with highest proportion of publications were general surgery and coloproctology (21.6% and 21.2%, respectively). Median MQ score was 13 points. 61.0% and 25.9% of studies were classified as LoE-4 and LoE5, respectively. An association was observed between level of compliance with MInCir-ODS checklist and publication year (p = 0.01), MQ and origin (p = 0.009), and MQ and disciplinary area (p = 0.018). Conclusions: Almost 87% of the studies published in RC during 2023–2025 were classified as LoE-4 or LoE-5 and exhibited low MQ. Association was confirmed between MQ and origin, as well as some disciplinary areas. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Objetivo: Determinar calidad metodológica (CM) y nivel de evidencia (NE) de artículos publicados en la Revista de Cirugía (RC) y su asociación con año, procedencia y área disciplinar. Material y Método: Estudio bibliométrico. Se incluyeron artículos publicados en 2023-2025, excluyéndose "Editoriales", "Imágenes y Cirugía", "Cirugía al día", "Documentos", "Técnicas quirúrgicas" y "Cartas al Editor". Se analizaron diseño, área disciplinar, procedencia, NE y CM. Se aplicó una escala de CM (MInCir-T), una lista de chequeo (MInCir-ODS) y una herramienta de clasificación del NE (Oxford). Se utilizaron estadísticas descriptivas y analíticas. Resultados: Se estudiaron 235 artículos [134 reportes y series de casos (57,0%), 60 revisiones narrativas (25,5%), 12 estudios transversales (5,1%), 11 cohortes (4,7%), 6 revisiones sistemáticas (2,5%), 6 ensayos clínicos y estudios cuasi-experimentales (2,5%), y dos casos y controles (0,9%). Los estudios provienen preferentemente de la Región Metropolitana (60,0%) y otros países (24,2%). Las disciplinas con mayor proporción de publicaciones son cirugía general y coloproctología (21,6% y 21,2%, respectivamente). La mediana de CM de los artículos fue 13 puntos. El 61,0% y 25,9% de los estudios son de NE-4 y NE-5 respectivamente. Se observó asociación entre nivel de cumplimiento de la lista MInCir-ODS y año de publicación (p = 0,01); entre CM y procedencia de las publicaciones (p = 0,009); y entre CM y algunas disciplinas (p = 0,018).
