| Abstract (English): |
A large portion of the Asturian, Spanish, and global population resides in rural areas, a culturally distinctive context that is often overlooked in the clinical practice. From a sociocultural perspective, rurality has historically been shaped by agrarian, traditional, and family-based structures. In southwestern Asturias, it developed around the moirazu or mayorazgo (entailed primogeniture) as a form of historical inheritance. Individuals remain embedded within the family group, giving rise to particular psychological and communicational characteristics. Clinical approaches must consider the interdependence inherent in rural life, which contrasts with the individualism more typical of urban populations in Western societies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |

Gran parte de la población asturiana, española y mundial habita en zonas rurales, una realidad culturalmente distintiva pero poco considerada en el ámbito clínico. Desde una perspectiva sociocultural la ruralidad se caracteriza históricamente por su origen agropecuario, tradicional y familiarista. En el suroccidente de Asturias se articuló a partir del moirazu o mayorazgo como forma de herencia histórica. El individuo permanece subsumido en el grupo familiar, lo que genera peculiaridades psicológicas y comunicacionales. Nuestros modos de trabajo precisan acoger la interdependencia que se muestra en la ruralidad, que contrasta con el individualismo más propio de la población urbana de Occidente.
