Abstract (English): Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) and PRONAMs are essential tools for improving the quality, equity, and safety of healthcare. This article describes the evolution of CPGs toward PRONAMs in Mexico, as well as their benefits and challenges in the international context. It reviews the methodological process of guideline development, from the identification of priority health topics to the formulation of recommendations using systems such as GRADE and consensus-based methodologies. The transition led by the General Health Council toward standardized national protocols aimed at unifying clinical practice across the healthcare system is analyzed. The benefits of standardization in reducing clinical errors and improving health outcomes are highlighted, along with the persistent challenges to effective implementation. Finally, the role of medical students and young professionals in adopting evidence-based practices is emphasized as a key factor for strengthening the culture of quality and patient safety in Mexico.
