El editorial se centra en la investigación en salud como un eje transformador para América Latina, destacando el libro *Paso a paso: el ABC de la investigación en salud* como una herramienta pedagógica que orienta la formulación y desarrollo de proyectos con un enfoque ético, riguroso y contextualizado. Se enfatiza la necesidad de que la investigación sea una competencia esencial para los profesionales de la salud, vinculada a las realidades territoriales, las inequidades sociales y la promoción de la salud desde la Atención Primaria en Salud (APS). Además, se resalta la importancia de la apropiación social del conocimiento y la comunicación efectiva de los resultados para fortalecer la participación comunitaria y la gestión local. El texto también subraya la relevancia de articular la academia con los servicios de salud para responder a los desafíos sociales y promover sociedades más equitativas y saludables.
