Abstract (English): The biological process of transformation is the result of complex mechanisms that are translated in substantial changes in the ultrastructure, as well as cellular biochemistry and physiology. These subcellular changes can be observed by using quantitative morphometric technics. Cultured normal breast epithelial rat cells induced to growth by epidermic growth factor (EGF), as well as transformed cells produced by oncogen ras transfection, give rise to HC11 and HC11 ras cellular groups respectively. Transmission electronic microscopy study was applied to the described cell groups, recording morphometric data while evolving transformation and specifically evaluating Beta 1 (β1) integrin volumetric fractions, receptive glycoproteins on cell surface which are implied in extracellular matrix (MEC) adhesion components as well as in cell to cell interactions. The different expression of these molecules wills determinate different physiological characteristics inherent to the transformation process in these cell types. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
