Abstract (English): The classification of admixture like water reducers in plasticizers and superplasticizers is based according to their constituent material, its action and effects. The aim of this work was based on demonstrating a first experience in the electrochemical evaluation of the efficiency of a admixture Cuban in reducing steel reinforcement corrosion. Four probes were prepared with cement mortar with two steel bars inside. Two probes were prepared with the admixture in the mixing water from the mortars mixture with one of these as a bath additive on the bars. The other two probes the admixture was applied only in the bar leaving the other as a reference. These probes were in a high level aggressivity corrosion that facilitates the direct influence of chloride ions. For the evaluation of the efficiency was necessary to obtain the electrochemical corrosion rate values through five electrochemical techniques. The efficiency was confirmed with the diffusion coefficient and concentration of chloride ions on the surfaces in each probe. According to the efficiency obtained in the three probes and the behaviour of the diffusion coefficient of chloride ions, the lignosulfonate could be applied in the mixing water of mortar mix or concrete and like bath in the steel.
