Abstract (English): A consideration was carried out about foundations to assure autistic person as patient. Also is offered an overview of concepts and classifications, some pathogenically basis, generalities of clinical and neurobiological approach, prognosis of this mental health disorder, and the relevance of neuropsychological and sociocultural aspects. In conclusion, is correct the term patient for autistic person, although this term must be avoided if some segregate connotation of whatever nature is applied in some contexts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Spanish): Se consideran los fundamentos que permiten asegurar que los autistas son pacientes. Se brinda una mirada desde los conceptos y las clasificaciones, desde algunas bases patogénicas, las generalidades del enfoque clínico y neurobiológico, la prognosis como desorden de la salud mental, y la importancia de los aspectos neuropsicológicos y socioculturales. En conclusión, es correcto llamar pacientes a los autistas, aunque debe evitarse la palabra si aporta alguna connotación de segregación de cualquier índole en determinados contextos.
