| Abstract: | It is testament to London's remarkable dining scene that, in what cannot honestly be said to have been a vintage year — endless pizzerias and smash burger joints; too few fresh ideas — there have been so many extraordinary meals out to enjoy. My meal of the year might actually have been at AngloThai, which shed its early timidity in favour of going hell-for-leather-and-f***-you-all with its own unique take on the British-Thai marriage. It is not listed below as it made the list last year and wasn't re-reviewed — if nothing else, this feature is meant to make a bragging show of my incomparable incompetence. But each of the restaurants that follow offered meals that passed the chatterbox test: I could not stop talking about them afterwards. I hope you go and can't shut up either. Merry Christmas.
