Abstract (English):	The Avoidance and Fusion Questionnaire for Youth (AFQ-Y) is a self-report measure for adolescents. The questionnaire assesses cognitive fusion and experiential avoidance as described by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The aim of this study is to analyse the psychometric properties and factorial structure of the Italian version of the instrument (I-AFQ-Y). The I-AFQ-Y was administered to 1248 students (aged 11-18) in 12 schools. The EFA, performed on 604 participants recruited during study 1, shows a one-factor solution named «Psychological Inflexibility». CFA, performed on 644 students recruited during study 2, confirms goodness of fit indices are adequate for the one-factor model. The I-AFQ-Y (8 item) shows moderate internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.69 for the factor total) and moderate test-retest reliability (r = 0.64). Furthermore, the I-AFQ-Y shows a good convergent validity with the internalising problem scale (r = 0.53) and total problem scale (r = 0.52) of the YSR, while the correlation with the externalising problem scale is lower (r = 0.32). The short version of the I-AFQ-Y is a valid and reliable measure, which can be easily used both in research and in clinical practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Abstract (Italian):	L’Avoidance and Fusion Questionnaire for Youth (AFQ-Y) è uno strumento che indaga i costrutti di evitamento esperienziale e fusione cognitiva in età evolutiva secondo la prospettiva dell’Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In questo studio vengono presentati i dati relativi alla traduzione (I-AFQ-Y) e validazione italiana dello strumento. La popolazione di studio è composta da 1248 studenti di età compresa tra gli 11 e i 18 anni reclutati in 12 scuole. Attraverso un processo iterativo i risultati indicano che l’I-AFQ-Y (8 item) presenta una struttura monofattoriale: si è scelto di denominare tale fattore: «Inflessibilità psicologica». Tale struttura è stata identificata con l’analisi fattoriale esplorativa in un primo studio condotto su 604 ragazzi e confermata in un secondo studio (N = 644) attraverso l’analisi fattoriale confermativa che ha ottenuto buoni indici di bontà di adattamento. Le proprietà psicometriche della I-AFQ-Y (8 item) indicano una discreta consistenza interna (alfa di Cronbach pari a 0,69) e una discreta affidabilità test-retest (r = 0,64). Inoltre, l’IAFQ-Y mostra una buona validità convergente con la scala dei problemi internalizzanti della YSR (r = 0,53) e con la scala dei problemi totali della YSR (r = 0,52), mentre si osserva una correlazione significativamente più bassa con la scala dei problemi esternalizzanti (r = 0,32). Data la brevità della scala e le buone proprietà psicometriche l’I-AFQ-Y (8) può essere considerata una misura valida e affidabile da utilizzarsi sia in contesti clinici sia in contesti di ricerca.
